Deciding on a tattoo while under the influence of alcohol is not a good idea. Once you have sobered up and find your tattoo can be quite shocking,painful and embarrassing.

Your tattooist should refuse your request of a tattoo if he or she believes you have been drinking heavily.

A single drink for dutch courage is ok but you will still have to put up with the pain and discomfort
for a few days and should not be drinking heavily after you have been tattooed or whilst the healing process takes place.

You may be under increased risk of infection if drinking after a tattoo and antibiotics will be ineffective with alcohol.
